Kalyana Gotsu is one of the traditional tiffin side dish which is served in almost all south indian marriages. This is a mixture of the dals and veggies which tastes yummy and goes well with idli,dosa and ven pongal varieties. You can try this kalyana Gotsu in place of the usual sambar and chutneys.

Ingredients for making Kalyana Gotsu
Moong Dhal - 3/4 CupChanna Dhal - 2 tbsp.
Brinjal - 2
carrot - 1 Small
Onion - 2
Knol Khol - 1
Potato - 2
Green Chilli - 1
Tomato - 1
Green turky berry - 1 handful
Sambar Powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
Salt - To Taste
Thick Tamarind Juice - 3 tbsp
For tempering
Oil - 2 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Jeera - 1 tsp.
Urad dal - 1tsp.
Red chillies - 2
A sprig of Curry Leaves
Method for making Kalyana Gotsu
1. Soak the moong dhal and channa dhal in water for 15 minutes.
2. Wash and cut all the vegetables into fine pieces.
3. Transfer the dhals and veggies in a pressure pan, add the green chilli, chopped onions, tomatoes, turmeric powder, sambar powder, little salt and cook this for 3 whistles with enough water.
4. Mash the contents with a mattu and then add the tamarind juice and allow this to boil in a medium flame 5 minutes.
5. Heat oil in a kadai and temper this with the contents given under to temper.
Now the Kalyana Gothsu is ready to be served with South Indian Tiffin of your choice.
