Paruppu Keerai masiyal is one of the healthy and easy to make recipe which will be loved by the kids. This can be prepared with murungai keerai, Siru keerai, pasalai (spinach) keerai, vendaya keerai, manathakalli keerai, paruppu keerai, and mullai keerai. Add keerai either as a masiyal or as a poriyal in your diet to get the health benefits. Serve this with snake gourd poriyal.

Health Benefits of taking greens
1. Relieves constipation problems as the greens are rich in fiber.
2. Good source of calcium, iron, potassium, zinc and vitamins.
3. Act as blood purifying agent.
4. Good for skin and eyesight.
siru keerai - 1 bunch
Onion - 1
Green chillies - 2
Tomatoes - 2
Garlic - A handful
Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp.
To Temper
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp.
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp.
Urad dal - 1 tsp.
Red chillies - 1
A sprig of Curry leaves
Oil as needed
2. Pressure cook the toor dal by adding turmeric powder and asafoetida for 3 whistles and set aside.
3. Chop the onions, tomatoes and green chillies.
4. Heat oil in a kadai and add the ingredients under to temper, then add the onions and saute till transparent and then add the tomatoes, green chillies, garlic and saute for 3 minutes.
5. Next add the washed keerai and saute well.
6. Add the contents to the cooked dal and cook for 1 whistle by adding enough salt.
7. Open the lid and mash the keerai.
Now the paruppu keerai is ready to be served. Serve this with snake gourd poriyal and Seppankizhangu roast.

Thoor dhal - ½ cupsiru keerai - 1 bunch

1. Pluck the leaves portion from the from the bunch of keerai and clean and wash them in water for 3 times to get rid of any sand particles.2. Pressure cook the toor dal by adding turmeric powder and asafoetida for 3 whistles and set aside.
