Ingredients for making Bread Bajji
Bengalgram dal flour (kadalai maavu) – 2 cupsRice flour - 2 tbsp.
Bread slices - 5
Omam - 1/2 tsp.
Water- ½ cup
Chilly powder- 3 tsps.
A pinch of asafoetida
Cooking soda- 1/2tsp.
Salt as required
Oil for frying
Method for making Evening Snacks Recipe Bread Bajji
1. Cut the bread slices into triangles or any desired shape.
2. Mix the bengal gram flour, chilly powder, omam, rice flour, hing, cooking soda with required amount of water to get a thick coating consistency.
3. Heat oil in a kadai, now dip the bread slices in the batter so that it gets fully coated and then drop this in the hot oil and fry till you get a golden brown colour on both sides.
5. Drain the excess oil from the bajjis by using a tissue paper.
Serve the hot bread bajji with coconut chutney or kothamalli chutney.
Other Bhajji Varieties: Instead of bread you can use onion, potato, capsicum, brinjal, vazhaikai or plantain. You can also make a stuffing with potato or any vegetable and make crispy bread pakoras.
