Poondu Milagu Rasam is one of my favorite recipes which my Grandma makes whenever I suffer from cold. Here I have shared the traditional ancient rasam recipe which is prepared using crushed garlic, pepper and cumin mixed with tangy tomato and tamarind. Try this recipe and really you will love the flavour and aroma of spicy hot rasam.
Ingredients needed to make Poondu Milagu Rasam
Black Pepper - 2 tsp
Turmeric powder - a pinch
5. Add the tomato tamarind mixture, curry leaves, salt and the remaining ground powder.
6. Now add 1 lengthwise slit green chilli and allow this to boil.
7. Garnish with coriander leaves.
Now the poondu milagu rasam is ready to be served with potato curry or thuvaiyal.
garlic - 10 pods
Red chillies - 2
Tamarind paste – 1 tsp
A sprig of Curry leaves
Water as needed
Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tsp
Tomatoes - 2
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
2. In a vessel take the required amount of tamarind and 1 tomato and mash well with your hands. Add salt and turmeric powder.
Red chillies - 2

Water as needed
Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tsp
Tomatoes - 2
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Method for making Tamil Recipe Milagu Jeeraga Rasam
1. Grind pepper, garlic, cumin seeds and red chillies in a mixer.
2. In a vessel take the required amount of tamarind and 1 tomato and mash well with your hands. Add salt and turmeric powder.
4. Heat oil in a kadai, splutter the mustard seeds, add asafoetida, then add the finely chopped tomatoes and saute well.
5. Add the tomato tamarind mixture, curry leaves, salt and the remaining ground powder.
6. Now add 1 lengthwise slit green chilli and allow this to boil.
7. Garnish with coriander leaves.
Now the poondu milagu rasam is ready to be served with potato curry or thuvaiyal.
